I’m Manchester bound this Friday (18th).
I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be opening for the brilliant Norwegian quartet Katezenjammer.
The gig is @ Manchester Academy 3, Oxford Road. Check out the Academy website to book tickets (£7.50).
I’ll be onstage 8pm and performing tracks from my new CD Colours.
It’s sure to be an awesome gig – don’t miss!!
I will be taking to the stage at the beautiful and historic Epstein Theatre on Thursday night!
I’ll be joined onstage by some wonderful musicians and I will be playing songs from the album Colours and I will be debuting 2 new songs: ‘Hallelujah’ (yes, I have the cheek to have laid claim to that song title too!) and ‘You Just Want To Belong’.
I’ve been doing a fair bit of travelling lately and I have to say it makes doing gigs in my hometown all the sweeter.
It will be the opening night of Liverpool Sound City Festival (17th-19th May). Musicians, fans and captains of the music industry will be gathering in the fair city of Liverpool for 3 days of new music, new ideas and general mayhem.
WRISTBANDS for the gig are available here at the Sound City website.
Roll on Thursday….I promise you, this will be a gig to remember….. see you there!

This is me taking part in a the World Premiere of ‘Three Last Letters’ a beautiful composition written by the uber-smart Craig Vear (@craigvear).
Based on the last letters of Scott of the Antarctic and his 2 remaining companions, there was Cello, Clarinet, Electric Guitar and three vocalists (including me). Add to that field recordings of Antarctic winds, samples of Elgar and spoken word recordings and you have an intense sonic painting of 3 guys fighting against the cold! Or as the composer described it – an ‘imageless film’.
The performance took place last night at The Vale of Glamorgan Festival and was an emotive and unique experience. As a singer/songwriter, it was a new adventure for me and a lot of fun to be involved.
Meet Kevin – the owl that sits on top of the PA at The Donkey in Leciester (a cooler, more vibey venue than the name might suggest!).
I was invited to play the Thursday Song Club night. I travelled down last week and had a ball. Audience were so up for it. I started with a solo version of ‘Domino’ a song making it’s presence felt in my set lists lately.
… was then joined by Chris Campbell on Snare Drum, Cymbal and Tea Towel (layed across the snare drum to warm the sound).
I snapped a string towards the end so did an impromptu version of Capricorn Beach – a song that doesn’t need a guitar….
This led to audience clapping. High spirits and loads of energy. Magical. Great gig to play.
I’m off to Cardiff this week to lend my vocals to the premier of the Three Last Letters project at the Vale of Glamorgan Festival. It’s a multi-levelled piece based the the last letters of Scott of the Antarctic. I must admit I feel naked onstage without my guitar but that’s the point – it’s always good to get out comfort zones. An interesting experience awaits….
